What should you do to revoke or suspend a certificate?
EuroCert provides the option to revoke a certificate 24 hours a day.
Before doing so, please read the following information!
Who can revoke/suspend a qualified certificate?
- A qualified certificate containing the Subscriber’s data may be revoked/suspended only at their request, except in exceptional circumstances requiring revocation/suspension at the initiative of EuroCert.
- A qualified certificate with additional data may be revoked/suspended by both the Subscriber and the authorized representative of the represented entity.
Revocation
This is the permanent (irreversible) deactivation of a qualified certificate, which can no longer be used. EuroCert revokes the certificate within 24 hours of receiving the request. The revoked certificate is placed on the certificate revocation list (CRL). The certificate may be revoked as a result of the occurrence (or reasonable suspicion of the occurrence) of circumstances described in the Certification Policy and Code.
Suspension
This is a temporary deactivation of a qualified certificate, which cannot be used for a maximum period of 7 days. After this period, the certificate is automatically revoked if the suspension is not cancelled earlier. EuroCert suspends the certificate within 24 hours of receiving the request. The suspended certificate is placed on the certificate revocation list (CRL).
How to carry out the procedure?
A request for revocation/suspension of a certificate can be submitted:
- on the website (24/7/365) –> [LINK],
- by email (24/7/365), by sending the request [LINK] to uniewaznienia@eurocert.pl – signed using the current valid qualified certificate,
- by email (24/7/365), by sending the request [LINK] to uniewaznienia@eurocert.pl – using the email address registered in the EuroCert database,
- by phone at +48 22 390 59 95 during business hours (Mon-Fri 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.).
When calling (point 4), you must provide:
- the first name, last name, PESEL (Personal Identification Number) or ID document number of the person whose certificate is to be revoked,
- the revocation password appearing on the contract or the contract number,
- confirmation of your authority to revoke the subscriber’s certificate (if you are not a subscriber).
If it is not possible to verify the identity correctly, the certificate may be suspended until the doubts are clarified. If EuroCert’s attempt to contact the reporting person by phone within 24 hours is unsuccessful, the request will be deleted 24 hours after it was created.
Please note!
- If a request for revocation/suspension is submitted, the Subscriber will receive confirmation at the email address provided in the request.
- A revoked certificate cannot be reinstated.
- If the certificate is revoked after it has been suspended, the date of revocation is the same as the date of suspension. This means that an electronic signature created during the suspension period has no legal effect.
- After the suspension of the certificate has been cancelled, the legal effect of an electronic signature verified by that certificate and created during the suspension takes effect at the moment the suspension is cancelled.
How to reinstate a certificate?
Reinstating a certificate means cancelling the suspension of a qualified certificate, which can be done within 7 days of the date of suspension and involves removing information about it from the CRL list. EuroCert cancels the suspension of a certificate within 24 hours of receiving the request or on EuroCert’s own initiative.
The suspension of a certificate may be cancelled if the reasons for suspending the certificate are not confirmed, in particular after confirmation of this fact by the Subscriber.
How to carry out the procedure?
A request for the reinstatement of a certificate can be submitted:
- in person at EuroCert Sp. z o.o., ul. Puławska 472, 02-884 Warsaw (Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.),
- in person at any partner location: [SALES POINTS].
Please note!
- After the suspension of the certificate has been cancelled, the legal effect of the electronic signature verified by this certificate, created during the suspension, takes effect at the moment of cancellation of the suspension.
- If a request for reinstatement is submitted, the Subscriber will receive a confirmation to the email address provided in the request.
